Turkmenistan Ambassador urges COMSATS University for enhancing cooperation in Science and Education

ISLAMABAD: April 8 – Ambassador of Turkmenistan/ Dean of the Diplomatic Corps to Pakistan, H.E. Atadjan Movlamov along with Embassy’s Third Secretary Mr. Hemra called on Rector, COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Prof. Dr. Muhammad T. Afzal at the Islamabad Campus of the later.

Prof. Afzal informed the Ambassador that more than 33,100 Pakistani and 360 international students from 23 countries are studying at COMSATS enrolled in over 100 Bachelors, Masters and PhD level programs. There was a need to attract more students from Turkmenistan into these programs to allow for cultural bridging between Pakistan and Turkmenistan.

The Ambassador expressed his keen interest in re-engaging with COMSATS University in establishingbilateral collaboration and cooperation in the field of science and education and urged for organizing exchange visits and conferences between the two sides. Mr. Movlamov informed that the Turkmenistan is hosting the 2ndMeeting of Turkmenistan-Pakistan Joint Working Group on Science and Education in 2nd Quarter of 2023 in which COMSATS’ will be invited to participate. The envoy also briefed that in the past, COMSATS had signed an MoU with Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management which needed to be reactivated. The Ambassador invited COMSATS students’ participation in international competition for scientific research works among young people on “High Technologies and Innovative Projects” which is being organized from March 1 to October 10, 2023. The winners of thisevent will be awarded diplomas, books and other prizes.

Prof. Sajjad Madani presented a brief introduction of COMSATS University Islamabad and underscored the research impact and international rankings of the varsity.During the meeting,senior COMSATS officials including Prof. Dr. Sajid Qamar, Dean, Faculty of Sciences, Prof. Dr. Shahzad A. Malik, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Saqib Gulzar, Dean, Faculty of Business Administration, Prof. Sajjad A. Madani, Registrar, Prof. Dr. Shams ul Qamar, In-charge ORIC/ Academics and Mr. Ali Tawab Baloch, Head, International Office were present.
