Islamabad-Pakistan, July 10, 2025 — Shifa International Hospitals Limited (SIHL) has firmly denied recent allegations circulating on social media claiming that the hospital kept a deceased patient for seven days. The denial came during a meeting of the Subcommittee of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Health, held on Wednesday in Islamabad.
A representative of SIHL categorically refuted the claims, describing them as “baseless and misleading.” The representative clarified that the issue was briefly mentioned in a previous subcommittee meeting on July 4 but was “unnecessarily sensationalized” by certain media outlets.
The hospital’s spokesperson noted that “the committee members confirmed in today’s meeting that there was no intention to raise the matter in the way it appeared in the media.” SIHL urged the committee to acknowledge the damage caused by the undue media coverage and reaffirmed that all care provided by the hospital strictly follows scientific protocols and ethical medical practices.
The hospital emphasized its commitment to delivering compassionate and quality healthcare in full compliance with national regulations and international standards. SIHL also made it clear that it reserves the right to take legal action against individuals or organizations responsible for spreading defamatory content about the institution.
In a statement released after the meeting, the hospital encouraged journalists and the general public to verify information through its official communication channels to avoid the spread of misinformation.
