Iron Brothers Pakistan and China agreed to boost their existing cooperation in defence and security domains to effectively counter common security challenges.
The agreement was achieved during a meeting between Chinese State Councillor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang and Pakistani Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir in Rawalpindi, the Pakistan Army Chief said on Sunday.
ISPR reported that during their conversation, the Army Chief and Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang talked about issues of mutual interest, including regional security and defence cooperation.
The top general of the nation underlined Pakistan’s dedication to the strategic alliance with China and vowed complete support for the CPEC project, a key element of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) of the neighbouring nation.
Gen. Asim also praised Beijing for providing Pakistan with steadfast assistance on regional and global challenges.
According to the statement, the dignitary also emphasised the value of the long-standing strategic alliance between the two brotherly countries, expressed satisfaction with the CPEC’s advancement, and reaffirmed China’s commitment to the project’s on-time completion.
The Chinese FM also praised Islamabad’s efforts to uphold peace and stability in the region, particularly the assistance provided by Pakistan’s military in securing Chinese nationals and projects there.
Both sides also discussed the evolving security situation in the region, and Pakistan Army Chief acknowledged Beijing’s role in promoting peace and stability in the region. COAS and Mr Gang also agreed to enhance their existing cooperation in defence and security domains to effectively counter common security challenges.
ISPR said the crucial meeting concluded on a positive note, with both sides reiterating their resolve to further strengthen the time-tested, all-weather friendship.
