Islamabad – The fifth most populous country’s first digital population and housing census will begin tomorrow (Wednesday).
With more than 4 million registered digital portals launching earlier this month, the much-hyped general election will take place in constituencies based on the new digital census.
Pakistan Statistics Authority spokesman Muhammad Sawar Gondar said census field work across Pakistan will begin on March 1 and will be completed by April 1. Data will be published by April 30th.
Statistics Pakistan collects data in collaboration with the National Technical Council (NTC), the National Database and Registry Authority (NADRA), state governments and the military. Over one rack of field counters were trained and deployed in the field, and all teams received support from local police and military during field visits. 126,000 electronic devices are used in the process.
The digital census is said to be the first digital census in Pakistan and South Asia, and data collection will comply with international standards.
