Denmark has revealed that it has welcomed more foreign workers to the country in 2022 as compared to previous years.
In 2022, approximately 31,600 foreigners entered the country for employment-related reasons, which is a 24 percent increase over the previous year and the highest amount since 1997, according to Statistics Denmark, the nation’s official statistical website.
According to statistics, since 2011, an average of 21,200 foreigners with work-related residence permits have entered Denmark annually over the past ten years. Indians also immigrated to the nation in significant numbers.
“In 2022, 31,600 people immigrated to work – an increase of 24 per cent. Compared to the previous year. It is also the highest number who have immigrated to work since 1997 when the census began. In the previous ten years, an average of 21,200 people per year immigrated with a residence permit for work,” the statement of Statistics Denmark reads.
Analyzing the data in depth reveals that Romanian citizens made up the majority of those who immigrated to Denmark for employment in 2022, with close to 6,000 doing so. This suggests that Romanians make up about 19% of all foreigners who immigrated to Denmark.
Polish nationals also favoured moving there, as 3,700 of them did so with a work visa to Denmark, accounting for 13% of all arrivals with this kind of permit.
It’s interesting to note that Indian nationals saw the biggest rise in the number of immigrants with work permits. According to Schengenvisainfo, the number of Indian visitors to the nation increased dramatically by 73%.
Italy, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Spain, Germany, Portugal, and the United Kingdom are also represented on the top ten list of foreigners who entered Denmark with a work visa in 2022.
