National Skills University Islamabad

Within the shortest possible time, irrespective of gigantic hurdles, the National Skills University Islamabad (NSU) Muridke Campus initiated classes in the first week of January 2023 for five professional six months skills courses to produce a technical workforce in Solar System, Mobile Repair, and Manufacturing, Industrial Stitching, Domestic, and Industrial Electricians and Microsoft Office Applications.

One Hundred Kanals land has been acquired and initial funding of 386.829 million by the Government of Pakistan will be utilized to strengthen skills education in the Punjab province by establishing an NSU sub-campus in Muridke.

It is essential to mention that the National Skills University Islamabad certification is recognized globally as this university has the unique honor of being the UNESCO/UNEVOC Center. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar, Vice Chancellor of the National Skills University Islamabad, stated this on his visit to Muridke Campus.

The Vice-Chancellor advised the Campus Coordinator and other officials of the university to provide state-of-the-art skill education and expedite procurements for getting the latest IT equipment and skill learning machinery. According to him, Muridke youth is enthused to join skill learning programs. Upon completion of their certification, the university will facilitate their job placements or entrepreneurial works in collaboration with the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training.

The university is closely working with the NAVTTC Skill Verification Program to provide job opportunities to skilled human resources in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the rest of the world. According to Prof. Mukhtar, skilled workforce working abroad brings remittance, thus contributing to the national GDP. He further stated that ex-patriate Pakistanis’ remittances contributed 7.7% of the national GDP in 2022. This could be significantly improved if our youth is adequately skilled in basic and advanced technology-relevant jobs.
