Imran Khan, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, will now appear in court at a different site, the government declared in a statement dated May 9.
The paramilitary Rangers team made a stunning arrest of the former prime minister on Tuesday at the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
Despite nationwide protests over the arrest erupting, the administration has defended the action, insisting that it was legal.
Imran Khan was reportedly taken into custody outside of the courthouse on Tuesday, according to the IHC.
The PTI chairman is required by law to attend an important hearing today before an anti-graft court. Rangers agents detained him yesterday in connection with the Al-Qadir Trust investigation by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
As part of the Toshakhana case, brought by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Imran was also expected to appear before a municipal court in the nation’s capital on May 10.
Further Sessions After hearing arguments from all sides, Judge Humayun Dilawar dismissed two petitions submitted by the PTI leader on Friday that contested the criminal charges being brought against him in the Toshakhana case.
The ECP submitted the reference in November of last year, asking the court to pursue criminal charges against the PTI leader for allegedly lying to officials about the gifts he received from foreign dignitaries while serving as prime minister.
However, the Chief Commissioner Islamabad Capital Territory’s office said late on Tuesday night that the hearing’s location had been shifted to the police guesthouse in Islamabad.

As part of a “one-time dispensation”, the local administration declared “New Police Guest House, Police Lines Headquarters H 11/1, Islamabad, the venue for hearing of case titled ‘District Election Commissioner Vs Imran Khan Niazi’ and for the appearance of Mr Imran Khan Niazi before Honorable Judge Accountability Court – I, Islamabad on 10th May 2023, instead of F-8 Court Complex, Islamabad and Judicial Complex G 11/4, Islamabad.”
