ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari welcomed his Chinese counterpart Qin Gang at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad on Saturday.
While Pakistan is preparing to convene a trilateral conversation with Beijing and Kabul in Islamabad, where the foreign ministers of neighbouring countries will participate in bilateral negotiations, Chinese FM Qin Gang arrives in the city.
The expansion of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) to Afghanistan, restrictions on Afghan women, and a number of other concerns will also be covered by officials.
The most recent conversation took place the same week as the UN had an Afghanistan discussion in Doha, Qatar, without admitting the nation’s de facto leaders.
However, due to an uptick in attacks on its security forces in border regions, Pakistan is likely to bring up security concerns with Afghan acting FM Muttaqi. Over the course of the past year, there have been more than 500 injuries and over 300 fatalities in approximately 440 terrorist incidents in Pakistan.
