The Foreign Office has verified that a group from the Pakistani military forces attended the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit earlier this week in New Delhi.
The 16th meeting of the expert working group under the council of ministers of defence of SCO member states was physically attended, according to MoFA spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, by a delegation from the joint staff headquarters.
Officials from Pakistan attended the event despite the Modi administration’s sinister plans since the neighbouring nation prevented Pakistan from attending the organization’s summit by abusing its SCO authority.
The infrequent contact between these bitter rivals also raised the prospect of the Pakistani defence minister travelling to New Delhi for the SCO meeting in April and May, but no invitations have been extended as of yet.
The FO spokeswoman insisted that Islamabad is a participating member of the international group and will keep communicating with it. She lamented New Delhi’s reckless actions and voiced her worries to the SCO, noting, “Our argument has been well received with the entire organisation.”
The fact that Islamabad personally attended the SCO conference in India during heightened tensions attracted notice despite the scant contact.
Indian is also to host a summit meeting in June, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is likely to be invited for the huddle.
