Wasim Akram defends Amir’s behaviour off-field comments

President of Karachi Kings, Wasim Akram, has come out in support of Mohammad Amir, after the left-arm pacer was criticised for his on-field aggressive posturing and off-field comments for Peshawar Zalmi captain, Babar Azam.

Amir had angered Babar Azam’s fans before the season, when he said that he doesn’t differentiate between the wicket of Zalmi captain or a tailender.

Last month, former cricketer, Shahid Afridi, had revealed that he had personally scolded Amir for his on-field behaviour in the first two matches of the season and his remark for Babar.

However, Amir paid no heed to Afridi’s advice, as he made an obscene gesture during his team’s very next match against Lahore Qalandars.

Akram differs from Afridi’s opinion about the left-arm pacer and believes that off-field comments and healthy rivalry brings more attention to the PSL.

“You need characters, you need a bit of rivalry, and I am all for Amir, the way he has been saying stuff as a bowler,” Wasim said.

“What’s the point of going into a PSL game, or any game, and shaking hand with the batter and hugging them?”

“Ok, after the game, before the game, I am all for it. But during the game, be professional, and these little words off the field also adds spice to PSL. That is the beauty of PSL. We should enjoy instead of criticising the person individually and consistently,” he concluded.
