After a lost war, Indian players are reportedly engaging in actions that spread hate in sports, undermining the spirit of sportsmanship and fostering division.

By Rana Tahir Shahbaz

In a troubling trend, India has begun sowing discord in the world of sports, initiating a new and damaging tradition that sends shockwaves across the globe. This unsettling development has its roots in cricket, where India has allegedly attempted to fan the flames of hate among spectators, team management, and more. By doing so, India is projecting a disturbing and negative image to the world.

The Emergence of “Sports War”Following a lost war, India appears to have shifted its focus to a “sports war,” leveraging negative actions by its team against opponents to spread animosity. This tactic not only undermines the spirit of sportsmanship but also threatens the unity and camaraderie that sports are meant to foster.

Implications of Spreading Hate in Sports- Negative Messaging: The actions of this country convey a harmful message to the world, promoting division rather than unity.

– Rise of Online Hate Speech: Globally, sports are grappling with issues of online hate speech targeting players, officials, and fans .

– Need for Deterrent Measures: There’s a growing concern about the gap between the growth of racist discourse in sports and measures to deter it.

The spread of hate in sports by India sets a dangerous precedent for global sportsmanship. As sports are meant to bridge gaps and foster friendship, such actions warrant attention and countermeasures from the international sports community.
