Islamabad – October 27, 2025: PTCL Group (PTCL & Ufone 4G) and GSMA have signed a long-term Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at GITEX Global 2025, expanding collaboration not only within telecom but also across diverse industries. The GSMA Open Gateway initiative is designed to help enterprises connect their services to mobile networks easily and securely using Application Programmable Interfaces (API). This simplifies the adoption of new digital services and drives faster innovation at scale.

PTCL Group has announced the successful development and certification of two new APIs ‘Send OTP’ and ‘Validate OTP’ on the CAMARA standard 1.0.0, the latest release based on Client Initiated Backend Authentication (CIBA). By becoming part of the GSMA Open Gateway initiative, these APIs ensure enterprises and telecom operators can access standardized, secure, and interoperable services.

With this milestone, PTCL Group joins global leaders in advancing digital ecosystems by enabling businesses to easily embed mobile network capabilities into their platforms. The newly certified APIs enhance user authentication, minimize fraud risks, and improve customer journeys by leveraging globally recognized frameworks for security and reliability.

Group Chief Technology and Information Officer, PTCL & Ufone 4G, Jafar Khalid, said, “This milestone is part of our broader expansion plan to standardize the integration landscape on the CAMARA framework. It will simplify technology operations, enhance agility, and shorten time to market while ensuring improved service quality. Over time, this will also enable PTCL Group to collaborate more closely with developers, hyperscalers, startups, and enterprises, unlocking new business opportunities, monetizing network capabilities, and driving sustainable revenue growth.”

Jawad Abbassi, Head of MENA, GSMA, said, “We are delighted to welcome PTCL Group to the GSMA Open Gateway initiative. Their participation marks a significant step forward in accelerating the digital ecosystem across Pakistan and the broader region. By opening up network capabilities through common APIs, PTCL Group is helping to foster innovation, enhance interoperability, and enable new digital services at scale. This collaboration is critical to unlocking the full potential of 5G, IoT, and next-generation applications.”

By combining global collaboration with local expertise, PTCL Group continues to play a leading role in shaping the future of digital services for industries, enterprises, and consumers.
