This week, dozens of climbers reached the summit of Mount Everest, including Pakistani mountaineer Naila Kiani, who made history by conquering the highest peak in the world in the Mahalangur Himal sub-range of the Himalayas.
As the second woman from a South Asian country to finish her journey this morning, Kiani, a mother of two, inscribed her name in history. Naila faced a challenging situation, but she was determined to reach the summit. In 2023, she succeeded and became the first female climber to do it.
The courageous climber reached the summit at 8:02 this morning, and Twitter erupted with congratulations for Naila as she made history by becoming the first Pakistani woman to successfully summit five peaks above 8,000 metres.
Naila Kiani will be the first international climber to summit Everest in 2023, according to a post on her official Facebook page. My congratulations go out to Naila Kiani for conquering Mount Everest! Your commitment, tenacity, and persistence are extremely admirable. You are the top female mountaineer in Pakistan who has scaled 8000 metres or above. Your success is proof of the resilience of the human spirit. We are happy for you and ask for your safety as you descend.
It also expressed gratitude to the sponsors for their financial support, adding that without them, this would not be possible.
