Mohammad Amir makes obscene gesture, ignores Shahid Afridi’s advice

Karachi Kings pacer, Mohammad Amir, seems to have paid no heed to Shahid Afridi’s advice as he made an obscene gesture during his team’s match against Lahore Qalandars on Sunday in Karachi.

The left-arm pacer bowled only two overs and conceded 12 runs, while taking the solitary wicket of Shai Hope.

However, after dismissing Hope, courtesy of a brilliant catch by Irfan Khan Niazi, Amir was seen making an obscene gesture while celebrating the wicket.

Earlier this week, Afridi had revealed that he had personally scolded Amir for his on-field behavior in the first two matches for Karachi Kings in HBL Pakistan Super League season eight.

“Whenever a player doesn’t perform, or even if he does, I drop him a message for call him. Likewise, I messaged Amir yesterday. I talked to him respectfully, but I also scolded him. I told Amir, ‘what do you want?’ You have gained so much respect, you faced a blot on your reputation and from there, you made a return. You got a new life, in a way. What are you even trying to do?” Afridi said.

“Is this the way to play? There are juniors around you, you are using bad words. There are fans who are disheartened to see that. Even we have used such words and sometimes, the camera used to catch us. There are families, kids watching you on television. Aggression is fine, but keep it under control,” Afridi further said.

However, Karachi captain, Imad Wasim, came out in support of his left-arm pacer.

“A fast bowler should be aggressive. I don’t think he does anything intentionally, it happens in heated moments,” Imad said.

“As far as there is no objection on him by match officials, I don’t have any issue,” he added.
