As political instability continued following the arrest of former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, gold prices increased in Pakistan on Wednesday.
According to figures from the All-Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association (APSGJA), the price of a tola of gold jumped by Rs9,900 to close at Rs240,000, while the price of 10 grammes of 24 carat gold increased by Rs8,487 to close at Rs205,761.
The price of the precious metal remained at $2,031 per ounce on the international market.
The price of silver reached a new high, rising by Rs 100 per tola and Rs 85.75 per 10 grammes to settle at Rs 3,100 and Rs 2,657.7, respectively, according to data provided by the organisation.
