ISLAMABAD-PAKISTAN: BHM Films and Yūgen Studios are proud to announce the International release of JUJJI, a Pakistani true crime thriller that has officially been acquired for worldwide distribution by Buffalo 8. The acquisition coincides with the international debut of the film’s trailer on Variety, marking a historic moment for Pakistan’s independent cinema.

JUJJI will be available On Demand in the U.S. and U.K. starting November 21, 2025, across Amazon Prime Video and Verizon Fios/Vubiquity, with a Pakistani and global release to follow shortly after.

Directed by Habib Shahzad and written by Ahmad Umar Ayaz, JUJJI stars Muhammad  Arsalan in the chilling title role, alongside Mustafa Rizvi as Sub-Inspector Naveed and Anjum Habibi as Constable Arshad. Set in Rawalpindi, the film is a gripping portrait of moral ambiguity, justice, and decay, following two police officers, one idealistic and one cynical, as they pursue a brutal serial killer known only as “Jujji.” As the officers close in, their hunt exposes the psychological and moral fractures within both men, blurring the line between justice and vengeance. Developed over two years, JUJJI began as a grassroots vision to bring Rawalpindi’s stories and visuals to the global stage. What started as a local independent project evolved into a fully realized thriller, blending noir-inspired aesthetics with the depth and realism of South Asian storytelling.

The film premiered at the Gandhara Independent Film Festival 2024, where it won Best Feature Film, and later received Best Feature Film at the Punjab Police Film Festival 2024, followed by an official selection at the Divvy Film Festival 2024.

“JUJJI is not just a film, it’s a statement of where Pakistani cinema can go when we trust our own stories,” said Habib Shahzad, the film’s director. “We wanted to create something that is rooted in our streets yet speaks universally about morality, fear, and redemption.”

Eifa Ahmad Awan, Head of Distribution at Yūgen Studios, added, “This is a proud moment for us and for Pakistani independent cinema. Having JUJJI acquired by Buffalo 8 and presented on a global platform like Amazon Prime On Demand proves that our visual language and narratives are ready to travel the world.” Buffalo 8’s Head of Distribution, Nikki Stier Justice, shared earlier, “From the first screening, JUJJI stood out as a bold, genre-defying thriller that merges authentic South Asian storytelling with the universal appeal of true-crime cinema. It’s the kind of film that challenges conventions while signaling the exciting global evolution of independent filmmaking.”
