Pakistan: – According to Omdia’s Fiber Development Index (FDI) 2024, Pakistan ranks 77th among 93 countries globally. Operators face several challenges when deploying fiber, requiring intervention from regulators and governments. These challenges include switching off the copper network, duplication of resources reducing ROI, Rights-of-Way accessibility and approval, construction costs, lack of information and collaboration regarding construction, and access problems to physical infrastructure.

Despite these issues, fiber is a vital part of the telecom infrastructure and essential for the country’s success and development. To address this, the Government of Pakistan, via the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), has established a policy for fiberization. Under this policy, all LDI operators must deploy at least 1,500 kilometers of fiber across the country within a five-year timeframe.

ADG LDI (Pvt.) Ltd., a licensed Long Distance International (LDI) service provider, has signed an agreement with Sunwalk (Pvt.) Ltd., a leading multinational telecom and technology company, to deploy a 1,500-kilometer optical fiber network from Islamabad to Karachi via Motorway. This makes ADG LDI the first LDI operator to achieve this milestone.

Key Highlights:

  • Strategic Partnership: This partnership aims to digitize Pakistan and provide a future-proof network for ADG LDI Pvt. Ltd.
  • Network Deployment: 1,500 km optical fiber network deployment from Islamabad to Karachi via Motorway, connecting major cities and towns.
  • Quality Deployment: Enhancing the useful life of Optical Fiber Cable through quality deployment.
  • Network Upgrade: Deploying a new Optical backbone with high efficiency to enhance Network KPIs.
