On Thursday, 5 September 2024, the KOICA Alumni Association Pakistan held a successful knowledge sharing event at the Serena Hotel in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Peshawar, Pakistan. The event was attended by about 80 participants, including local government officials and alumni members, including Yeon Je Ho, Country Director of KOICA Pakistan Office.

The main objective of the Knowledge sharing seminar was to share social, cultural, and educational activities among alumni members to strengthen their respective expertise and contribute to regional development through the revitalisation of alumni associations led by returning trainees. Participants also had the opportunity to learn about the latest trends in development cooperation and further strengthen the friendly relations between Korea and Pakistan.

Two key announcements were made at the event.

Firstly, Mr. Waseem Marvat, Technical Director, delivered a presentation on ‘Enhancing Water Quality system to achieve SDG-6 in Pakistan’, which emphasised the importance of water quality management systems as essential to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in Pakistan. He also said that KOICA’s training experience is expected to have a positive impact in providing concrete strategies to improve the quality of water supply in local communities and across Pakistan.

Fawad Anwar, Scientific Officer, followed with a presentation on ‘KOICA training Exploration of Good Research and Development Approach for Improvement of Agricultural Productivity of Pakistan’, where he explained how the knowledge and skills gained through the KOICA training can contribute to innovation and productivity in the agricultural sector in Pakistan. It is hoped that this presentation will strengthen research and development efforts in the agricultural sector in Pakistan and enable sustainable improvements in agricultural productivity.

These presentations went beyond mere information sharing and provided practical and concrete ways to address important social issues and achieve Pakistan’s development goals, adding to the need and importance of this seminar.

In his remarks, Mr. Yeon Je ho, Country Director of KOICA Pakistan Office, expressed his deepest gratitude to all the participants for making this event possible, stating that the knowledge and skills gained in Korea through KOICA’s training programmes will go beyond personal growth and become an important driving force for the development and prosperity of Pakistan.
