At Supreme Court, Imran Khan urges PTI workers to remain peaceful

Imran Khan, the leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has advised his supporters to maintain peace and avoid harming the nation.

After Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Atta Bandial issued an order on Thursday describing his arrest in the Al-Qadir Trust case as unlawful and directing his immediate release, he made a statement while still in court.

The highest court had earlier directed the Islamabad IGP to bring the former premier in court within an hour. Khan was brought to the court under heavy security as a result. The case was considered by the three-member bench, which was presided over by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial, Justice Athar Minallah, and Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, and the decision was made public.

Khan emphasised in the courtroom that their only goal was to hold elections in the nation and he encouraged his supporters to maintain composure and peace. He said in court that his attorneys had advised him about the mayhem and anarchy that was currently taking place in the nation.

Imran expressed his dissatisfaction with the injustice he experienced while seeking justice in court. Instead of getting justice, he said, he was severely attacked with batons. He bemoaned the fact that not even criminals receive such treatment, much less someone who has petitioned the court for justice.

He continued by saying that because he was detained under suspicion of being a terrorist, he was unaware of the political climate in the nation. Imran Khan made it clear that he was not in any way involved in the protests and questioned how he could be held liable for them.
