In a significant development, Chinese President Xi Jinping has conveyed his congratulations through a letter on Monday to the third Dialogue on Exchanges and Mutual Learning among Civilizations and the first World Conference of Sinologists. President Xi, who also serves as the general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, emphasized the importance of equal exchanges and mutual learning among different civilizations in shaping a brighter future for humanity.
Reflecting on the extensive tapestry of human history, President Xi highlighted how nations across the world have forged distinct civilizations marked by their unique characteristics and symbols. He emphasized that fostering mutual understanding and cooperation among civilizations would serve as a guiding force to address contemporary challenges and attain collective development.
President Xi further reiterated China’s commitment to collaborating with all stakeholders in promoting universal values such as peace, development, fairness, justice, democracy, and freedom, while actively implementing the Global Civilization Initiative.
The Chinese President emphasized that cultural exchanges should transcend estrangement, mutual learning should transcend clashes, and coexistence should transcend feelings of superiority. Such a framework, President Xi emphasized, would enable human civilizations to advance collectively.
In his letter, President Xi called upon sinologists from across the globe to act as bridges between Chinese and other civilizations. He urged them to redouble their efforts in fostering greater understanding, friendship, and cooperation between China and the international community.
The dialogue, organized by the Chinese Association for International Understanding, commenced on Monday in Beijing, marking an important platform for global intellectual exchange and collaboration on civilization and sinology.
