The 19th national congress of the Communist Youth League of China (CYLC) successfully wrapped up in Beijing on Thursday. The congress witnessed the election of the 19th CYLC Central Committee, which comprises 170 members and 129 alternate members.
During the congress, resolutions were passed on the report of the 18th CYLC Central Committee and the revision of the CYLC Constitution. Emphasizing the importance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the guiding principles established at the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the CYLC congress highlighted the league’s commitment to nurturing capable young individuals who will contribute to and uphold the socialist cause. It emphasized the need to foster the growth and development of young people while strengthening and expanding patriotic unity among the nation’s youth.
As a mass youth organization under the leadership of the CPC, the CYLC plays a vital role in engaging and mobilizing young people. According to data released by the CYLC Central Committee in May, the league had over 73.58 million members by the end of 2022.
The congress brought together nearly 1,500 delegates from different regions and sectors of society. Throughout the event, delegates shared their work experiences and exchanged views on youth development. Pi Huilan, secretary of the CYLC committee of Wuhan, Hubei Province, expressed the commitment of league staff to support and empower young people, resolving their challenges effectively. Yu Jiajia, secretary of the CYLC committee of Chongqing University, emphasized the importance of cultivating a resilient and adaptable new generation capable of overcoming various challenges.
The conclusion of the 19th national congress marks a significant milestone for the CYLC as it reaffirms its dedication to guiding and supporting China’s youth, aligning its work with the principles and visions set forth by the CPC.
